Join us on the Nakasendo Trail and Old Post Towns Tour in autumn 2023!
The Nakasendo is an old trail constructed 400 years ago by the Tokugawa Shogunate as one of the major routes between Edo (Tokyo now) and Kyoto. It was a long route, the total length was 526 km with 69 post towns in between. Because of the construction of the new highways and freeways, most of the routes disappeared or were covered with concrete, but the part in Nagano and Gifu prefectures still remains as it was during the feudal time because of its remote location in the mountains. You can enjoy some unique rural scenery in the autumn with its gorgeous warm colors.
Nakasendo Trail Autumn Tour Overview
1. We visit 3 of the most well-preserved post towns; Narai, Tsumago, and Magome.
2. We visit a beautiful part of Nakasendo Trail. On the route, you will walk through the forest, see waterfalls, and be surrounded by idyllic rural life with rice and vegetable fields.
3. We visit Matsumoto Castle which is one of the only 12 original castles remaining in Japan.
Wifi is available on the private coach.
* Before you get on the bus, everyone has to sanitize their hands with sanitizer that will be provided by us.
* There will be a maximum of 20 people on a bus that fits 45, so there will be 2 seats for each person.
* We will provide everyone with one special health drink per day to keep everyone’s immune system up
* We will provide everyone with one fresh bottle of mineral water per day

Transport: Travel by air-conditioned private van (on days 4 and 5), baggage handling free
Arrival/Departure: The tour starts in Matsumoto and finishes in Nagoya. If you need a hotel and transfer, we can arrange it upon request.
