Aomori Travel Guide

Aomori Prefecture | Travel Guide

While Aomori prefecture in the northeastern part of Japan’s main island might not be a typical destination for international tourists, it has plenty to offer in terms of nature and culture as you can see in our travel guide. It is a good destination in the summer because of the lower temperatures, and in the winter there is a lot of snow. Tourists mainly come to Aomori for the natural wonders such as the snow walls, Lake Towada, and the Oirase Gorge.

If you come to Japan in the summer, you may want to head to Aomori for the awesome Nebuta Matsuri festival that features a long parade of illuminated floats. The colorful parade is a feast for the eyes and the atmosphere is always good.
